The Paper Mills Valley : Home to an ancient paper production that has its roots as far back as the 1300s and which was of great importance between the 1400s and 1700s. The Valley opens up revealing its gorges and a rich variegated vegetation where every now and then you can recognize some ruins that testify to the past among the thick green.
The walk to discover the area begins at the old bridge of Toscolano Maderno, where you take via Valle delle Cartiere to the left. You always walk keeping to the left along a road that dates back to the mid-nineteenth century to then reach the first suggestive location: Garda. From here continue for one
gorge obtained from the river. You then pass a gallery and on the right you will find the renowned Paper Museum. From here continue to the village of Sant’Antonio where there is a beautiful gorge with the river underneath and go up towards Camerate where there is the ancient mill.
From Toscolano Maderno you can take beautiful hiking trails towards the hinterland of the area. In addition to the Valle delle Cartiere, you can take an excursion to the inland pastures and Monte Pizzocolo to enjoy the pleasure of a walk in the midst of nature.
Monte Pizzocolo overlooking Toscolano Maderno, a town on Lake Garda’s western shore, is 1582 meters high, reaching a relatively advanced position with respect to the Garda hinterland. It is a privileged observation point for the whole of Lake Garda which offers, from its top, a 360 ° view of Lake Garda, the Alps, Monte Rosa and the Apennines. Near its summit you can find a bivouac made in a military structure of the First World War and a small chapel.
-The path of the Bassa Via del Garda , dedicated to Roberto Montagnoli, is a route to do in any season and suitable for everyone. In the autumn months you will feel the scent of cyclamen while in summer that of jasmine.
Beautiful nature that surrounds anyone walking along the path, crossing rolling hills and rocky overhangs, walls of the ancient lemon houses and delightful villages to visit.
-A short walk to do with the family is the one between Pulcino and Gaino . It starts from the Toscolano bridge and through streets parallel to the Pulciano-Gaino state road you reach Pulciano, to stop at the Castellari ice cream parlor, the town’s historic artisan ice cream parlor, with a terrace overlooking the lake. From here you can then reach the church of Gaino, an excellent paronymic point.
The traditional market takes place on Thursday mornings in the Old Town, it is very beautiful and offers stalls of all kinds: from clothes, to shoes, to food and delicacies, with the specialties of the area.
Various sporting events, sometimes even of an international nature, including: Gardalonga (rowing marathon), bicycle races, duathlon and the renowned edition of XGardaman, triathlon with mountain bikes, unique in Italy and one of the few in the world.
