Excursion in the Valtènesi: The main peculiarities of this tour are two lakes: Lake Lucone and the lakes of Sovenigo. The first is actually a basin, once occupied by a small body of water, now largely reclaimed. The area, in addition to being a precious ecological oasis, is also an important archaeological area where many paleoenvironmental finds of fundamental importance for the study of prehistory in northern Italy have been found.
The second are three small lakes, a naturalistic and environmental oasis of great charm and appeal. In the largest of these ponds, in July and August the evocative flowering of lotus flowers is repeated, imported, according to tradition, from Japan.
Path 801 – Morti della Selva: Starting from the bulletin board of Piazzale Roma, turn right into Via della Parola, leaving behind the Tower, Piazza Biolchi and the Parish Church. Continue on via Veneto, via Vedrine (pacheggio) to reach a small chapel from which the Tour of Lake Lucone starts. Continue in the direction of S towards the hamlet of Castelletto, after 900 m of paved road turn right into Via Sorgente, right for dirt road in Via Castelletto di sopra and then always right slightly uphill in Via Montropero. The path follows in the direction of S the hilly ridge flanking vineyards and olive groves. This stretch presents landscapes of rare beauty towards the lake (Sirmione peninsula, Rocca di Manerba, island of Garda) and the mountains that surround it (Monte Pizzocolo and Monte Baldo). Cross the asphalt road that connects Soiano del Lago to Carzago Riviera at the height of the ENEL cabin, then continue towards S you get to a riding stable, then along the Arzaga golf course and then cross the SP 4 Padenghe-Bedizzole and reach the church of the Dead of Selva, an ancient lazaretto of 1445.
Rocca di Manerba: The Parco della Rocca includes a flat area of 90 hectares consisting of a rocky promontory at 200 meters above sea level and the coastal strip below, a coppice, meadow and cultivated fields. The area can be freely walked from the car park of Montinelle to Porto Dusano and offers a breathtaking view. Manerba del Garda is just 12 minutes from Polpenazze.
