Gardone Riviera is located on the west coast of Lake Garda. It is divided into Gardone Sopra and Gardone Sotto, and its hamlets are San. Michele, Tresnico, Fasano, Morgnaga. Along with other seven municipalities on the west coast, Gardone is part of the Riviera dei Limoni. The climate is mild throughout the year, thanks to the natural protection of the hills that enclose the area. Gardone has become a significant tourist destination at end of the 18th century, since influential tourists and german doctors were convinced that this place and its surroundings exercised great health benefits. The Austrian Luigi Wimmer, after a long stay in healing, built the first large hotel of surroundings and promoted this image of a Gardone healing throughout Europe.
Gardone is part of the Natural Park "Parco Alto Garda Bresciano". Gardone Riviera boasts several blue flags for its beaches that certify not only clean water but also services and respect for the environment in marine and lake locations.
Here there is the most famous place of interest of Lake Garda: Il Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Sopra a complex monumental erected by Gabriele D’Annunzio. Others point of interest are Andre Heller Botanical Garden, Villa Alba, the Museum of the Divine Infant, San Marco’s Tower.
